Kateřina Voleková

Mgr. Kateřina Voleková, Ph.D., is a specialist in the Old Czech language. Her research primarily focuses on historical lexicology and lexicography, as well as textual criticism and editing. Since 2006, she has been working in the Department of Language Development at the Institute of the Czech Language, part of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

She is a member of the authorial team for the Electronic Dictionary of Old Czech, with a particular interest in Old Czech hapax legomena. Since 2018, she has been leading the Diabible project, which aims to make full-text editions of medieval Czech Bible translations accessible.

Beyond Bible translations, her research also encompasses Latin-Czech dictionaries, prayer books, books of hours, and other medieval texts. Additionally, she has a long-standing interest in the evolution of the Czech spelling system.

Dr. Voleková occasionally teaches at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University and supervises bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. theses.
